はじめまして。
質問させてください。
DMVからDriver license limited term extensionという手紙がきました。
手紙の内容は
免許の期限が近いのでパスポートなどの身分証明のコピーと送られて来た用紙にサインやSSNを記入して送りなさい
とのことです。
ここで質問なのですが
私は学生なのでSSNがありません。記入しなくても大丈夫なのでしょうか?
それともSSNがない場合は直接DMVにいくべきでしょうか?
このextensionはrenewalとは別物なのでしょうか?
手数料などの明記がないのですが、無料なのでしょうか?
すでに同じ手紙を受け取り、対処された方、またはこの件にお詳しい方がいましたらどうぞお知恵をお貸しください。

免許証を最初に申請されたときはSSNを記入されましたか。
最初に申請する時に持ってなくて書かなかったら今回も必要ないのでは。
持っていない番号を書けと言われてもステイタスが変わって持っていれば記入しなければならないが。

最初から学生ビザなので記入していません。
DMVとの相性が悪いようで
免許のカードを手にするまでに一年半かかったり（DMVがきちんとジ受理してなかったようで。。。）
DMVはどうも信用できないので今回もナーバスになっています。

ビザの関係などで5年以下での更新の場合は初めの免許証の発効日から5年まで費用は掛かりません。期限付きの更新の承認部署があり、DMVに行ったり、書類を送ったりしてもその部署にキチンと必要書類が行かないことが良くあるのでどちらでも良いですが、ある程度時間がたったら電話で問い合わせをするべきと思います。

とりあえず、パスポート、I-20、I-94、Fビザのコピーを送ってみます。
更新の度に手数料がかかると思っていたのですが意外と親切で驚きました。
