Vivinavi Hawaiiゴミ出しのルール

ワイキキに住んでまだ１ヶ月。
賃貸マンションに住んでいます。
入居時、私の部屋のオーナーにゴミの分別について聞きましたら、
『全部一緒でいいよ』と（驚）
『ビンも缶も??』と聞きなおしても、
『オッケー！』と…。
ちなみに、同じ階のダストシュートに捨てています。
入らない大きな物、ダンボール等は、
１階のゴミ部屋に入りそこに捨てます。
確かに、そのゴミ部屋の中にもビンや缶を別場所に置いている形跡はないのです…。
日本で細かな分別をしてきた身としては、毎回物凄い罪悪感に襲われます。
部屋のオーナーがアバウトな人でルールをきちんと知らないのでは?
と思うのですが、本当に全部一緒にまとめて捨ててホノルル市は良いのでしょうか?
どなたか教えて下さい。

本土に住んでいた時のカンドでは各階にゴミ部屋がありました。ガラス、プラステイク，缶類など分別容器に入れる。新聞類は棚に、燃えるゴミはシュートで落とします。
しかしながら、最終的に集められる大きなコンテーナーでは大ざっぱに混ざって入れられていたのにはがっかりさせられました。勿論改善はありません。
ハワイでは一応、ビン類、新聞類、など別容器が外にありますがマネージャーいわく全て一緒に収集車に入れられるので割れたガラスも入れていいよ、と。
と、云われましたが割れたガラスなどは透明のポリ袋に入れガムテープで飛散しないよう出来るだけ巻きつけ一見で分かるような場所に置きます。
自分なりに出来るだけのことをしています。
日本にいる母はゴミの分別にかなり時間を費やします。年老いて大変な作業です。見ていてそこまでしなくてもいいんじゃないかと思うくらいきちんとやります。
そんな母が誇りです。
アメリカが日本と同じことをするようになるのには５０年はかかるでしょう。いや他民族の集合体なので１００年以上かかるかも?
