Puerto Rico is a domestic flight from any US airport, including Los Angeles, so
when you arrive in Puerto Rico or
when you return to another state,
you will not go through the immigration gate, so

no worries if you have ESTA or visa

If you have ESTA or visa, you will not have to worry. Same as Hawaii and Alaska.

I did a round trip
New York JFK ⇆ Puerto Rico with a friend who came from Japan to visit New York
We both treated as domestic travel. No problem at all.

even within the US, as each municipality is different.

flights to Puerto Rico required proof of a negative corona test within 72 hours.

Compared to Los Angeles, Chicago has a lot of greenery and forests where you can enjoy hiking and picnicking.
Also, Chicago is said to be dangerous, but away from downtown, you don't have to worry so much about security and it is very safe. You can take a walk alone in a residential area, and there are many ponds and nature, so you can spend your time relaxing.
Also, it is less crowded with people and cars than Los Angeles, so I think you can spend your time leisurely.

It is very cold and hard in winter, but it is nothing to worry about if you have an auto start system in your car.
In the morning the car windows are frozen and it takes about 10 minutes to leave.

Instead, winters are cold and there may not be much to do compared to Los Angeles.
Summer is short, so from June to October, many events are held in various places.

There are not so many Japanese people in Chicago compared to Los Angeles, so you can meet many people and have a different experience.

Chicago is not humid and has four distinct seasons
Nature and hiking in the spring, pools, beaches and hiking in the summer, its trees change colors in the fall and all white in the winter.
I like that I can enjoy the four seasons like in Japan.

By the way, Chicago has its own kind of bivinavi, and we don't use bivinavi much.
