成人式から大切にしている着物、襟にファンデーションが着いてしまいました。
日本のサイトなどを見るとベンジンでシミ抜きをすると出てきますが、ベンジンは国によって呼び名が違うとか?アメリカでは何を使ったら良いかご存知の方いたら教えていただけないでしょうか? 年に1ー2度着る程度なのでクリーニングってどのくらいの頻度でした方が良いものなのでしょうか?こっちだと、かえってクリーニングに出すのも怖い気がするのですが、着物を扱ってるクリーニング屋も情報があれば教えてください。

私も Benzine と名のついた商品は見たことがありません。多分、Home Depot 等で売っている Paint Thinner (シンナー) 近いと思いますが、ベンジンほど揮発性が強くありません。また真っ白な服につけたらシミが残りそうですね。
石油系ではありませんが、こちらの人は Isopropyl Alcohol で染み抜きをします。これもベンジンほど強力ではありません。有機系のしみなら、液体洗濯洗剤を薄めずつけて、2、3時間置いてから洗濯すると落ちる場合があります。まぁ、和服全体を自宅で洗濯するのは避けた方がいいかも知れませんけど。
リトルトーキョーやガーデナ/トーランスあたりの日系の洗濯屋さんが晴れ着の洗濯をしてくれるんじゃないでしょうか。このビビナビの広告もくまなく見て下さい。

江戸っ子３さん、インフォメーションありがとうございました。お礼が遅れましてすみません。Isoprophy alcoholというのは 知りませんでした。早速（ってもうだいぶたってしまったのですが、）試してみようかと思います。何人か着物を持ってらっしゃる方に聞いたりもしたのですが、日系の所でも、必ずしも満足の行くサービスがある訳ではないような噂を聞きましたので、シミの箇所のみそーと自分でやってみようと思います。日舞の先生から、着物に寄って正絹でも普通のクリーニングでも大丈夫なものもあると聞き、こんどそれを見てもらおうと思います。
