友人の息子さんが、日本で3Lサイズの衣類を着ているとのことです。
アメリカで彼が着るサイズといえば、何に該当しそうでしょうか?
XLかな?と思うのですが。
日本では高校生の彼が満足できるデザインの衣類というのがなかなか無いそうで、こちらでTシャツやら羽織るシャツやらを買って送りたいと思っています。
どうも息子さんは太ってしまったらしく、彼の身長と体重を友人に聞くのも、ためらってしまいます。
見当のつく方、どうかご意見をお願いいたします。

メーカーによってまちまちです。
例えば、アバクロのメンズTシャツは逆に小さめです。
また、Tシャツなどは、日本と大して変わらない物もあるし、
1サイズ位上の物など。
サイズ表を見るしかないです。

たしかに、メーカーで仕様が異なりますね。
アバクロのようなお洒落ブランドだとタイトに作ってあるのも納得です。
コールズとかその辺でタグを探ってみます。

#3のおっしゃる通り、メーカーによってまちまちだと思いますが、参考までに私の主人の場合。主人は日本の洋服だと恐らく3Lで（以前2Lの洋服を頂いたのですが小さくて着れませんでした）アメリカだとXL/XXLを来ています。身長は186cm、体重は190lbです。

どうやらXXLにした方が良いような気配がしてきました。
友人から息子さんの体格についてメールがありました。
172cm、82kg（体重は目分量…なんだそりゃ?）
なので、かなりチャビーになってしまってます。
びっくり…。
ピタシャツになるよりは、ちょっと余裕のある服の方がいいですしね。
