Vivinavi Los Angeles日本購入のＤＶＲは、ＬＡで使用可能？

ハードドライブ付のDVDレコーダーを愛用し、TV番組を録画→ディスクに焼いてたのが、酷使し過ぎて死亡しました。新しく買い換えたくとも、もう製造元（パナソニック）でも生産中止だと。
日本では、未だ沢山売ってるとのことで、日本で買ってきた物が、ＬＡで使用出来るなら、近々行くので、持ち帰りたいです。
どなたか電気モノに詳しい方、ご指導願えませんか？
デジタル放送も始まり、チューナー付でないと、Ch18.2は録画出来ないんでしょうが、録画形態やら（リージョン？)、ややこしい話になると、ちょっと分からないので、宜しくお願いします。
秋葉とかの外国人向け電化店の店員、に聞いて、そういう事まで説明してくれれば良いんですが、笑、、

3年前にLAに日本から引越ししてきたときに
日本で使用していたパナソニック製のHDD内蔵
のDVRを持ってきました。
最初はアンテナからの出力を直接DVRの入力に
接続してみましたがうまく行きませんでした。
当然ですよね、周波数帯違いますので。
ケーブルTVを導入し、ケーブルTVの受信機に
ビデオ出力があることがわかり、そこから
DVRの外部入力端子につないで、チャンネルを
L1に設定したところ、録画できるように
なりました。
DTVのコンバーターも同様にビデオ出力がある
ようですので同じやり方でできるかと思います。
ただし、録画するチャンネルに合わせておく
必要があります。

ただ録画して自分のところで楽しむだけなら、Tivo の DVR なんかのが現実的でしょう。
もしそれを DVD に焼きたいのであれば、レコーダーだけの DVD 機もあるし、PC でも焼けるし。

お返事有難うございます。
少し前まではケーブルTVだったので、HDD内蔵のDVRに直接録画して、残したい分だけ、ディスクに短時間で焼けてたので、凄く快適で便利でした。
でも引っ越した先が、DirecTV＋Tivoだったので、普段はTivoで録画した分は、見ては削除のみ、という形。
でもディスクに焼きたい場合は、バカみたいに同じ時間をかけて（1時間番組なら１時間かかる）、Tivoから私のDVRに移動させてから、以前みたく焼いてました。
でも今回は、そのDVRが壊れてしまい（一度直してまた、なので、もう寿命）、困ってました。
何か方法がある様なら、どうせＵＳじゃ売ってないんだし、帰省時に買ってきて、試してみようかしら、、、
