I am married to an American and hold a GC. When we got married, I took my husband's surname in the Japanese family register. In the U.S., I kept my maiden name and switched my GC to 10 years, which I recently received after 3 years.
I recently renewed my passport with my new surname and my maiden name in brackets, but I am panicking ？ that it is a problem that my passport and GC have different surnames.
Would this be a problem ？
I thought I would keep my maiden name in the US, but should I not do that ？ ？?

Hello. I entered the country previously on a tourist visa to meet my American boyfriend (now husband). My boyfriend became sick with an internal disease and while I was taking care of him, his visa expired and he overstayed. We later married in the U.S. and my husband is now healthy and he has a stable income. I have never worked in the US. I am applying for a green card, but I am paroling ？ because of my overstay and I think I will have to go back to the US Embassy in Japan for an interview.
I am quite anxious because Trump will be president for a period of time. I am worried that I will not be able to re-enter Japan ？ if I go back to Japan because of the alternative situation due to Trump being tough on immigrants.
I would appreciate your advice or anyone with similar experiences. Sorry for the rambling.

I am currently a permanent resident of OC. I am considering returning to Japan permanently in the near future and am considering giving up my permanent residence status.

I went to the Social Security Office today to learn about my future pension plan in the U.S. I told them that I intend to return to Japan permanently in the future, and they told me that if I plan to leave the U.S., I must become an American citizen or a permanent resident in order to receive my pension. I was reminded to be very careful because I would not be able to receive the pension unless I became an American citizen or a permanent resident if I planned to leave the U.S. I thought that I would be able to receive the pension from the U.S. after returning to Japan, even though there were tax issues, so I asked the supervisor to check again, but the answer was the same. I have been divorced from my ex-husband of many years and was shocked to learn that my own ji pension and the ex-husband based pension that I was told I could choose when I reached full retirement would all be invalid and I would not be able to receive them.

I know I shouldn't doubt this because I was told by the Social Security Office, but I have lived in the US for a long time and have almost no pension in Japan, so if this is true, I have a lot of things to reconsider. If this is true, I have to reconsider a lot of things.

I would like to know everyone's thoughts or experiences. I am currently pregnant with my second child and considering having the baby in Japan for various reasons. Our first child was born in the U.S., so we are dual internationals. We are both Permanent Residents and I have a current renewal receipt that allows me to come and go from Japan to the US until 2027.

I know that if I give birth in Japan, my child will be a Permanent Resident when we come back together, but has anyone raised a child in the US as a Permanent Resident ？

Have there been any inconveniences ？ I have not had any inconveniences so far. I have not experienced any inconvenience with permanent residency so far, so I don't know of any disadvantages that I am familiar with. I would like to know before deciding that I will give birth in Japan.

I will be stationed in Irvine starting in January.
I live with my 4 children, ages 4 and 2.
We are currently living in Chicago and had no choice of a house but a townhouse because Chicago is very hard to shovel snow.
Do most expatriates living in Irvine live in townhouses, apartments, or single-family homes? ？
I know there are advantages and disadvantages to each, but I can't imagine what it would be like in a different climate than Chicago.
Also, any recommendations on areas?
I am looking for rent within $5500.

I will be bringing my high school child with me and would like to find a home in Santa Clara.
I have seen the levels and racial composition at Great Schools, but
do you know anything about the atmosphere and recommendations for Santa Clara High School ・ or Wilcox High School
?
Also, if you can recommend any other school districts, I would appreciate it.
My child would like a school that is not too high-level ・ and not too racially polarized.
