Japan has started to impose an exit tax of 1,000 yen. I have seen this kind of thing before. I heard that if you buy a ticket from now on, the departure fee is included. But I bought a ticket last year, so if I go to Japan this year and leave again, there is no tax.

Well, departure tax. It is about $10 per person, so I don't mind it so much. It's about the cost of about two box lunches at a convenience store, so we don't have to be stingy with it.
