I don't think there is a big difference between aquarium brands and manufacturers because the structure is simple.

As for air pumps and filters, I don't think there are any brand name products in this market, because major electronics manufacturers are not interested in this market.

As #2 says, I would look up the form and function on Amazon and buy one. These appliances are powered by 110V AC for home use, but the manufacturers are too small and have not obtained UL or other safety standards in the US. Therefore, they are fragile and break easily. They can get very hot during use, or worse, break, but at that point you have no choice but to give up. If possible, do not place anything flammable around the appliance. I also got into tropical fish keeping in the 1950s. Those things are so relaxing to look at. I decorated the tank with sand and rocks that looked like rocks, and I also put in aquatic plants.
