公園にマウンテンライオン注意のサインがあったり、ニュースでマウンテンライオンの事が採り上げられたりしますが、実際目撃された方はどのくらいいるのでしょうか？

めったにないと思うよ。
ただ、小さい子供が（いちばん小さい人やペットなど）真っ先に狙われるらしいから目を離さないほうが良い。

↑こいつですね。ライオンっていうより、ワイルドキャットをもうひとつ大きくしたような感じですね。
昔昔は北米にも多く存在した代表的な肉食獣だったらしいですが、SM男さんの言われるように、もう滅多にいない存在らしいです。
でもカワイイ顔してますね。もちろんペットとしては飼えませんが、このくらい大きな猫、欲しいなぁ。気を抜くと襲われそうな殺気漂うマイルーム。ヘッドロックして思い切りグーパンチしても「ヤメロヨ〜」くらいにしか痛がらない大きなペットが欲しい。最近人気のチワワとか超小型ペットって、なんだか踏んでしまいそうで恐い。壁にぶん投げても「やりやがったなぁ！でも楽しい！」って反撃してくるぐらいの大型じゃないとネ。笑

去年はたしか、オレンジカウンティーで３人くらい襲われたし、ハリウッドとかの公園でも目撃はあるし、うちの近辺のカレッジからも校内に足跡があったとか通知が来たりしますよ。どのくらいいるのかは知りませんが、縄張りで一匹オオカミ的に生きる動物だし、滅多に見られないんじゃないですかね。数は増えているとも聞きますけどね〜。
