I changed my SSN name in February. The Social Security Office was closed due to Corona, so I sent all the documents by mail.

It took about less than 3 weeks.
The representative I spoke with on the phone said that the protocol is to let the mail sit for a few days after it arrives at the Social Security office before opening it and then proceed to examine the documents. Is this an anti-virus measure?

It was like a week and a half after the documents were sent, I received my passport and other documents back in the mail, and then a week and a half later my new SSN card was sent separately.
