About us
SuperMath is an abacus -based mental calculation school. In 1979, owner/president (founder) Mrs Watanabe
began teaching wiht two students in Salinas, CA. Now we have three locations in the Bay Area, CA.
San Francisco, San Mateo, San Jose.
What is abacus?
The abacus is an ancient tool made of beads to assit in making calculations. Historians trace its origins back to
Bablyon 3000 BCE.
What is abacus based-Based Mental Calculation?
Once students understand how to use the abacus, they begin to learn how to visualize the beads in their heads. This
process uses both left and right hemispheres of the brain. It is not memorization-based. Rather, it is skill-based and
lays a solid foundation for numbers.
How is SuperMath Beneficial?
SuperMath believes that abacus-based education brings numbers to life. With practice, mental calculation becomes a lifelong skill.
In a engaging and dynamic setting, students also learn and apply life skills such as goal setting, diligence and focs. Supermath strives
to empower students with confidence and quick processing skills.
