Check your Storm Drains and Ditches
Our Stormwater team regularly clears out storm drains and ditches to get ahead of flooding issues. These efforts ramp up significantly now when a big storm is headed our way. Our teams are out all across the city double-checking hotspots. Keep grass clippings, organic material, and other debris out of storm drains and ditches. If you see a ditch with debris clogging a grate, call us at 813-274-3101 or report it to tampaconnect.com.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

** (http://Joshua Ellis)

Meet Joshua Ellis, an Urban Environmental Coordinator in the Solid Waste Department. He has worked for the City of Tampa for almost 20 years and he enjoys that no two days are the same in his role. He enjoys working on a large variety of projects with new people every day.

What's one of the coolest days you’ve had on the job? The ribbon cutting of Water Works Park. The park is a great asset to the city with all of the previous environmental issues, most people wouldn’t know that it used to be a trolley car maintenance facility and the grounds had petroleum contamination. We were able to revitalize the spring in the process and create a space for the citizens of Tampa and tourists.

What do you like to do in your free time? In my free time, I love to boat and do just about anything on salt water!

What’s your favorite restaurant in Tampa? Asian cuisine is my favorite. Saigon Deli is a lunch break favorite.

What’s your dream vacation? If I were to go anywhere in the world, it would be French Polynesia by boat. I love the water, the beaches, the remoteness!
