Ichihara City is engaged in a variety of peace projects with the aim of communicating the importance of peace and other issues to a wide range of citizens.

One of these projects is the Ichihara City Peace Ambassador Dispatch Program.

Representing junior high school students in the city, Ms. Matsuda, Ms. Endo, Ms. Misono, Ms. Fukui, Ms. Honma, Ms. Suzuki, and Ms. Yamauchi visited Hiroshima from August 5 （ Monday ） to August 7 （ Wednesday ） as "Ichihara City Peace Ambassador" and learned the tragedy of war and importance of peace. We are working to learn about the tragedy of war and the importance of peace.

Today, August 6, we attended the Peace Memorial Ceremony with Prime Minister Kishida and other representatives from Japan and abroad to observe a moment of silence at 8:15, when the atomic bomb was dropped, to pray for the souls of those who lost their lives.

In addition, students from all schools where the Peace Ambassadors are enrolled folded 1,000 paper cranes, each with a wish for peace, and presented them to the "Children of the Atomic Bomb" statue in Peace Memorial Park. The students then participated in the "Hiroshima Children's Peace Gathering" attended by children from Hiroshima and other prefectures, where they presented their thoughts on peace. There, they listened to a valuable lecture by an A-bomb survivor and felt anew that this was not an event of the distant past, but something that happened to people living in the same era.

Finally, the Ambassadors for Peace had a valuable day at the Peace Memorial Museum, where they learned about the horror and tragedy of the atomic bombing beyond their imagination, and how many people are still suffering from the tragedy even today.

The Ichihara Peace Ambassadors will continue to serve as bearers of peace by sharing what they learned and felt in Hiroshima with their schools and families to keep the memory of the tragic war fresh in their minds and to raise awareness of peace among citizens.
