Post Date: 10/21/2024 9:30 AM

*HERMOSA BEACH* – (October 18, 2024) – The City of Hermosa Beach invites community members to participate in a Civic Facilities Tour at City Hall on Wednesday October 23, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This interactive event represents the first step in a series of community engagement efforts aimed at fostering transparency and encouraging resident input in the future of Hermosa Beach’s infrastructure as part of its Civic Facilities Project. Members of the media are also welcome to attend.

The Civic Facilities Project is an initiative intended to assess and address the growing needs of City facilities, including City Hall and the Police Department, that are severely aged. This project is designed to address the City’s aging infrastructure by improving operational efficiency, reducing maintenance costs and ensuring that public facilities meet the current and future needs of the Hermosa Beach community.

During the Civic Facilities Tour, residents will have the opportunity to tour key City buildings, including City Hall, to learn about their current conditions and the City’s strategic plans for renovation and improvement. This tour will be guided by City staff who will provide valuable insights into the challenges posed by rising operational costs and ongoing maintenance needs.

The tour will not only serve as an informative tour but also as a platform for residents to share their thoughts and feedback on the City’s plans for its facilities. Community input gathered during this event will be instrumental in guiding the City’s future work.

“This tour marks the beginning of our yearlong outreach to ensure that recommended facility improvements reflect the priorities of our residents,” said City Manager Suja Lowenthal. “As we work to bring community and service together through our Civic Facilities Project, we are committed to a transparent process that engages the community and ensures that City resources meet their current and future needs.”

The Civic Facilities Project will also offer residents opportunities to learn how Hermosa Beach is prioritizing long-term financial planning and sustainable infrastructure development through the City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
