*Man struck by dump truck Friday morning*

KAPA‘A – Police responded to a traffic incident Friday morning on Nalu Road in Kapa‘a where a man on a moped was struck by a dump truck.

On Aug. 2, at approximately 11 a.m., a dump truck was reversing on Nalu Road when the vehicle struck a man operating a moped.

The victim, a 62-year-old man of Kapa‘a, sustained injuries to his leg and was transported to the Wilcox Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the dump truck, a 46-year-old man of Kalaheo, did not report any injuries.

Nalu Road was limited to alternating traffic for approximately one hour as officers with KPD’s Traffic Safety Section conducted an on-scene investigation. Speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is urged to call Officer Himongala at 808-241-1617. Those wishing to remain anonymous can provide information by calling Crime Stoppers Kauaʻi at 808-246-8300, submitting a tip at cskauai.org [ http://cskauai.org/?fbclid=IwAR1VsGleC_bCca9IGuo3uawd7GGkec7QpTVUvF5vxabYHYDmEJ0yV4gBHAg&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ], or through the Crime Stoppers Kauaʻi P3 Tips Mobile App.
