National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month

National Minority Mental Health Awareness month raises awareness of the challenges that affect the mental health of people in racial and ethnic minority groups.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, act, handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is just as important as physical health throughout our lives. Mental health issues are common. Nearly 1 in 4 US adults live with a mental illness.

Mental health issues are treatable and often preventable. Medicare covers a wide range of behavioral health services, including inpatient, outpatient, and more. For example, Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers one depression screening per year to find out if symptoms of depression are present.
