0000The King County Metro Transit Department’s Market Innovation Section is hiring* *for a *Special Duty (SDA)/**Term Limited Temporary (TLT) Program/Project Manager II (PPM II)* position. The person in this position will contribute to the core functions of the Research & Innovation Group as a Research Analyst within Metro’s Research team.
 
The Research team works collaboratively within Metro to develop data and evidence and support application of data and evidence to planning, outcome measurement, improvement, and strategic decision making that aligns with Metro’s goals and priorities.

The Research team’s work includes design and implementation of data collection; development and dissemination of tools and resources to support data- and evidence-building; and support for Metro teams’ research, evaluation, and learning projects; synthesis of data; presentation of evidence in key agency forums; and promotion, modeling, and facilitation of evidence-based learning and decision-making. The Research team also brokers partnerships to support research, evaluation, and learning endeavors.
 
Metro’s goals and priorities center mobility as a human right and a key element of a healthy, thriving region. This position will play a role in helping the Metro Research team explore and document how agency investments and efforts are (or are not) effectively addressing mobility needs in King County, including for communities that have experienced significant mobility barriers. The Research Associate will engage in activities that yield a clear understanding of the regional transportation market and customers’ needs, experiences, attitudes, and behaviors so that different stakeholders across the agency have meaningful data and evidence to inform planning, demonstrate progress on mobility-related outcomes, and support decision making. The Research Analyst will collaborate with and advise individuals and teams across Metro to ensure that the agency’s research practices and resulting evidence are of high quality (that is, appropriately logical, equitable, and rigorous) and deliver actionable information. The Research & Innovation (R&I) work group supports a range of efforts related to new mobility options (first/last mile pilots, TNC-based alternatives to Access Paratransit, carpool incentives); investment in key mobility strategies and initiatives (Connecting to Transit, Safe Routes to Transit; integration of biking, walking, and scootering with transit); and enhancing Metro’s data and evidence so that Metro teams and business units can understand and communicate the effectiveness of their work, identify and leverage best practices, improve, and make more strategic decisions.
