View as Webpage June 4, 2024 Reno Connect | Senior Connect Connecting Citizens to our Community   June 2024 Updates   Farmers Market Coupons The Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA) encourages low-income seniors to sign up for free Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) coupon books. SFMNP’s goal is to supplement the diets of low-income seniors with fresh, nutritious produce while supporting Nevada’s farmers. The coupons can be exchanged for fresh locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs and honey at farmers’ markets in Reno, Sparks and Carson City. SFMNP’s coupon books are free, but are on a first-come, first-served basis, and limited to one per person. Eligible seniors can use the coupons through September 30, 2024. Each eligible senior will get $50 in coupons redeemable at local farmers' markets. To qualify, seniors must meet income criteria established by the Federal government. Eligible seniors must be a Nevada resident, 60 years or older, and must not make more than $27,861 annually or $2,322 monthly for a single-family household. For a two-person household, they must not make over $37,814 annually or $3,152 monthly. Coupon distribution dates are as follows: Wednesday, June 12 at Evelyn Mt Northeast Community Center (1301 Valley Road) from 10am-1pm. Thursday, June 13 at Paradise Park Activity Center ( 2745 Elementary Dr) from 10am-1pm. Friday, June 14 at Neil Road Recreation Center (3925 Neil Road) from 10am-1pm. Free Senior Movie Day We are offering a FREE movie day for seniors at the Cinemark Century Riverside 12. This event will occur all day on Thursday, June 20 and seniors will receive one free ticket to any movie shown that day and one free snack item! Please fill out this form by Monday, June 17 at 5:00pm if you are interested in attending. Location: Cinemark Century Riverside 12 - 11 N Sierra St, Reno, NV 89501 Time: Showtimes from 10:30am - 10:30pm. Budget Friendly Cooking Class Are you interested in a budget-friendly cooking class for seniors? Sponsored by Councilmember Ebert, join at the Elks Lodge to learn tips, tricks, and delicious recipes without breaking the bank. Limited capacity, kindly fill out this form to reserve your spot. Date: June 27 from 11am-2pm at the Reno Elks Lodge (597 Kumle Ln) Senior Walks Join us for a refreshing walk downtown every Tuesday at 9 AM! It's a great way to start your day, enjoy some fresh air, and meet new people in the community. We meet at West Street Plaza - 220 W 1st Street.
