As of February 18, the number of traffic fatalities in Chiba Prefecture this year was 20, tied for the worst in Japan. Nine of the 20 people killed in traffic accidents were pedestrians, and most of them occurred during the nighttime hours.

We should pay attention to the following three points to prevent traffic accidents.

Pedestrians have priority at crosswalks.
If you are driving a car, be sure to "Zebra ・ Stop" by slowing down sufficiently before the pedestrian crossing, checking for safety, and making sure to pause if there are pedestrians crossing.

(2) Pedestrians should act to avoid traffic accidents.
Pedestrians should take thorough actions to avoid traffic accidents, such as utilizing reflective materials when going out at night, telling drivers to cross the street with "hand up" or "eye contact" when crossing at a pedestrian crossing, and crossing after confirming that cars have stopped.

(3) Eradicate drunk driving
Drunk driving is a malicious and serious crime. We must all ensure that not only ourselves but also our family and friends do not drink and drive, and that drunk driving is eradicated.
