Wildfire Resources

Dear Friends,

As Los Angeles County rolls out recovery resources for residents impacted by the Eaton Fire, I'm committed to equipping my constituents with every tool they need to rebuild their lives.

Yesterday, I went to the opening of our new Disaster Recovery Center (https://recovery.lacounty.gov/altadena/) and was was proud of how many resources came together so quickly. Impacted residents cannot afford for government to build up services slowly. This crisis is urgent and people demand and deserve support now. This is my promise to you: I will continually advocate on your behalf to get every available source of support into your hands.

Below, you'll find links to some of the most common resources residents have requested. In addition to this newsletter (which you can sign up for here (https://lacounty.us14.list-manage.com/subscribe?u=ef8e8b8968f5705ee8ccb57cb&id=26768e5f76) if this email was forwarded to you by a friend), I'll continue to have all the latest information on my website (https://kathrynbarger.lacounty.gov/) , Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/supervisorbarger/) , X (https://x.com/kathrynbarger) , Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/supervisorkathrynbarger/) , and Nextdoor (https://nextdoor.com/) accounts.

Together, Los Angeles County will bring every resource to our neighbors in need.

Best wishes,
Kathryn Barger
Chair of the Board
Supervisor, Fifth District
Our Disaster Recovery Center is now open every day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to provide a one-stop shop for residents to access resources. We have all our County departments and federal, state, and local partners in one place. The site is at the Pasadena City College Community Education Center at 3035 E. Foothill Blvd.

Onsite staff will help you access FEMA financial assistance (for home repairs, personal property losses, childcare, transportation, or medical needs), State services (like the DMV and unemployment insurance), and County services (including property assessments, debris removal, employment assistance, vital records, health support, and more). Check the link below to see all the resources available and to learn more about the Disaster Recovery Center.

If you're having issues filling out your FEMA application, there is help available. You can call their help line at 1-800-621-3362 to speak to a representative, or go in-person to the Disaster Recovery Center at the Pasadena City College Community Education Center. Individuals can receive up to $43,600 in support for things like rent, home repairs, medical care, transportation, and more.

If you were displaced by the Eaton Fire and aren't sure about the status of your property, there's now an interactive map available. The map is searchable by address and includes photos of each property. Each structure is labeled according to how severely it was impacted by the fire. Homes marked black suffered no damage, green are 1-9% affected, yellow are 10-25% affected, orange is 26-50% affected, and red is more than 50% destroyed.

If you're still displaced and aren't sure when you're permitted to return back to your property, Incident Command is releasing evacuation order updates every day at 3 p.m. You can check the updated evacuation orders and warnings below.
