市内の古民家カフェ「プラスアンカー」にて、群馬大学理工学部教授等による科学講座「サイエンスカフェ」と市民や有識者による文化芸術等の講話「アートカフェ」が毎月交互に開かれます。今回は桐生市史編集委員の佐々木正純さんが講師です。
令和5年9月25日に江戸後期に建てられた桐生天満宮社殿と桐生新町のまちづくりの頃に建てられた末社春日社本殿と付随する棟札や文書、末社機神神社本殿が国の重要文化財に指定されました。天満宮の魅力は本殿と幣殿が全身彫刻に覆われていることです。その彫刻の名称やテーマ、日光東照宮の流れを持つこの建物の彫刻師、黒保根出身の関口文次郎について、この神社が生まれた背景も含めて分かりやすく解説いただく予定です。ご興味のある方はぜひお申込みください。
