Nagoshi-no-Hare & Chinowa Service Family can participate for building Chinowa

From ancient times, the Japanese people have practiced Nagoshi-no-Hare, a prayer to purify and to rid themselves of the first half of the year’s saiyaku (unfortunate events such as illnesses, accidents, or fights) and kegare, or “withered spirit”.
From ancient times, the Japanese people have practiced Nagoshi-no-Hare, a prayer to purify and to rid themselves of the first half of the year’s saiyaku (unfortunate events such as illnesses, accidents, or fights) and kegare, or “withered spirit”. Over the course of the first half of the year, the energy of a person’s spirit is diminished by tiredness, stress, and other pressures, as well as inadvertent sins or transgressions. To cleanse and refresh this energy and recharge the spirit, Nagoshi-no-Harae rituals are performed every June. Participants build then also walk through the large Chinowa wreath to pray for good health, safety, and happiness through the second half of the year as well as Nagoshi-no-Hare with hitogata. If you are not able to attend the service but interested in having the hitogata service (minimum $10.00), we will send hitogata and application form, so please email us. Shusse Inari Shrine of America provides these traditional ritual services. Throughout history, we have been told “Those who do Nagoshi-no-Hare live long lives,” so please come with family and friends!
We are also looking for volunteer including parents and children to build Chinowa. It is a great opportunity to experience traditional Japanese culture as well as enjoy the Chinowa you build!

We are able to provide hitogata service for Nagoshi-no-Hare as well as various Gokitoh services (such as family health and safety, healthy delivery for mother and children, granting wishes, and more) on the same day at the same place. An appointment is required for the those Gokitoh services. To inquire, please contact us at:
