本日、国府小学校を訪問し、久しぶりの給食をいただきました。
給食と言っても今日のメニューは特別で、セネガル料理が提供される日でした。
セネガルとは、東京オリンピック・パラリンピックの際、和泉市がホストタウンとなったことがきっかけで交流を続けています。来年１月にセネガルを訪問することもあり、事前に食文化に触れておこうと、セネガル料理のレストランを探していました。先日、池上小学校でセネガルに関するワークショップを実施してくださった「KURAGEバンド」のセネガル人の方に聞いたところ、大阪でセネガル料理が食べられるレストランを探すのはなかなか難しいとのことでしたが、そのような中、セネガル料理を体験できる機会に出会えたことを大変嬉しく
思います。
本日の給食のメニューは、「ホキのヤッサソース」と「チュウ」でした。名前を聞いて、どんな料理か想像がつかない方も多いと思います。ヤッサソースは、レモンと玉ねぎを使ったソースのことです。またチュウは、鶏肉と野菜をトマトソースで煮込んだボルシチのような料理でした。
料理が温かく、とても美味しくいただけるだけではなく、食を通じてホストタウンであるセネガルとの相互理解を深めるという、国際交流のことまで考えて作られている和泉市の給食の素晴しさを改めて実感した一日となりました。
