Candidate nominations for Trustee, Toronto District School Board Ward 11 (Don Valley West) By-election close on January 17

The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination to run as a candidate for the office of Trustee, Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Ward 11 is 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17.

The boundaries of TDSB Ward 11 (Don Valley West) are the same as the boundaries of the City of Toronto Ward 15, Don Valley West.

To be a candidate, for the office of Trustee, TDSB Ward 11 (Don Valley West), a person must:

- Be a public school supporter and qualified to vote for the office of TDSB Trustee

- File a nomination paper with original signature

- Acknowledge they are a resident in the city of Toronto

- Provide proof of qualifying address within the city of Toronto

- Pay the $100 nomination filing fee.

Nominations must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections office in Toronto City Hall, located on the first floor of 100 Queen St. W. The office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding statutory holidays).

Until a nomination paper is filed, a person cannot raise or spend any money on their campaign.

The final list of certified candidates will be available online after nominations close on Friday, January 17.

Third party advertiser registration

Any person, corporation or trade union intending to spend money to promote, support or oppose a candidate in the TDSB Ward 11 by-election must register as a third party advertiser.

A third party advertiser Notice of Registration must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections office at City Hall. Registrations can be filed Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until Friday, February 28 (excluding statutory holidays).

Voting options

Advance voting will take place on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Election day is Monday, March 3, with voting places open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Starting Monday, January 20, eligible voters can request a mail-in voting package online or by phone. Information about voting by mail is available on the Toronto Elections Mail-in Voting webpage (www.toronto.ca/votebymail) or by calling 311.
