*CY 2024 eCQM and Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program Reporting *

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is notifying eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and/or the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program of a deadline extension. The deadline for the submission of electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) data for the calendar year (CY) 2024 reporting period, pertaining to the fiscal year (FY) 2026 payment determination, has been extended from Thursday, February 28, 2025, to Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (PT). The Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program for eligible hospitals and CAHs has extended their deadline for reporting all program requirements from Thursday, February 28, 2025, to March 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (PT). CMS understands that some hospitals and their health information technology (IT) vendors need additional time to submit their eCQM data and to report on Medicare Promoting Interoperability requirements. This extension is intended to reduce reporting burden and is part of CMS’ continued commitment to ensuring successful data submissions to the Hospital IQR and Medicare Promoting Interoperability Programs.

For CY 2024 reporting, all other aspects of eCQM reporting requirements remain the same for the Hospital IQR Program and the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program. Successful submission continues to be defined as:

* Reporting on three CMS-selected eCQMs (Safe Use of Opioids-Concurrent Prescribing; Cesarean Birth, and Severe Obstetric Complications) and three self-selected eCQMs for four quarters (Qs) of 2024 data (Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4).
* Verifying that each quarter contains the same six eCQMs.
* Use of the Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy/Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology certification criteria to meet the certified health electronic record technology requirement report all available eCQMs.

For hospitals participating in the Hospital IQR Program, the deadline for submitting an Extraordinary Circumstances Exceptions (ECE) request for CY 2024 eCQM reporting remains April 1, 2024. The Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program has a separate hardship exception process. The Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program hardship instructions and applications for eligible hospitals and CAHs based on payment adjustment year are available on the Resource Library [ https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cms.gov%2Fmedicare%2Fregulations-guidance%2Fpromoting-interoperability-programs%2Fresource-library&data=05%7C02%7Cjhalloran%40hsag.com%7Cee43d9fbba4d4fef459c08dd205f86f7%7C669b5f30544c45b4894c6333fd2a6ceb%7C0%7C0%7C638702316838703861%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyfQ%3D%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=TusBOWoD6I3SDN3588hAQtiVCpbbzWX4eo6wA5x0hBQ%3D&reserved=0 ] page in the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program section of the CMS.gov website.**

*NOTE:* This extension applies only to the eCQM submission requirement for the Hospital IQR Program and all program reporting requirements for the Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program for eligible hospitals and CAHs.**
