The *Health Sciences Division*, *Assessment, Policy Development and Evaluation* [ http://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health/data.aspx ]* *unit within *Public Health – Seattle & King County* [ https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health.aspx ] is seeking *Senior Epidemiologist* to help lead the unit’s community health assessment and program and policy evaluation activities. We are looking for someone who will bring their lived experiences, as well as management and technical competencies, to work on a dynamic portfolio of projects that aim to improve the health of King County residents. We seek to operationalize and embed equity in all our work.

The work will focus primarily on managing APDE’s diverse portfolio of projects, supervising technical staff including Epidemiologists and Social Research Scientists, conducting strategic planning and prioritization of APDE’s short and long-term strategic goals, supporting strategic goals of the department, and building and strengthening relationships within the department and across organizations and sectors through data partnerships.

The Senior Epidemiologist will...

1) Support and oversee enhancements to APDE's quantitative data pipeline.
2) Build and maintain relationships with internal and external data partners and stewards.
3) Provide technical assistance to APDE Epidemiologist staff and directly supervise up to two technical staff. Senior Epidemiologists are expected to represent APDE and the Department’s data priorities and activities via both internal and external stakeholder engagement.  This position reports to the APDE Assistant Chief.

The *Health Sciences Division* provides robust assessment and evaluation work and population health strategies to influence public health with a focus on community conditions through data, evidence, and emerging best practices in partnership with the community. The duties of the health sciences division include working with community partners to address the root cause of health disparities and improve population health outcomes; providing the functions of assessment, epidemiology, and program evaluation; and advancing health equity in the community through strategies at the individual and environmental levels that promote protective factors and reduce risk for chronic disease, injury, and violence.

This position is based in the Assessment, Policy Development, and Evaluation (APDE) unit of the Health Sciences Division of PHSKC. APDE is a nationally recognized leader in community health assessment; providing health assessment data and analysis to inform planning, policies, and actions; and developing innovative interventions to improve the health of King County residents.   *Who May Apply:* 
This full-time  position is open to all qualified applicants.   *Work Schedule:* 
The normal work week is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will, from time to time, require evening or weekend meetings.
*Work Location:*
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly through teleworking with occasional reporting to office location *(primarily Chinook Building located at 401 5th Avenue; Seattle, WA 98104)* and to meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. This position requires the ability to travel throughout the County in a timely manner.
