This is an announcement from the Ichihara Police Department.
We have received a report of a new type of apodemy phone call in Ichihara City, which deceives a police officer.
The offender calls the victim, pretending to be a police officer, saying something like, "A cell phone in your name is being used for a crime." They call the victim with a phone call, "Your cell phone in your name is being used for a crime," etc., and lead the victim to a free app call or video call, and then show a fake arrest warrant or an image of a police identification card to make the victim trust them and cheat them out of their cash under various names.

○ Do not contact them using the free app's call or video call features.
○ They do not use the video call feature to present images of police identification cards or arrest warrants.
The best way to avoid being victimized is not to talk to the criminal
○ Do not answer or return calls to unknown numbers.
○ Set up an answering machine on your landline phone
and take other measures. If you receive a suspicious call, please contact the police station or the nearest police box.
