The City of Bellevue is known for its exceptional planning and growing as the city “where you want to be.” The organization adapts to changing needs and continuously works to improve the natural, built and social environments within Bellevue. The Community Development Department is looking for a collaborative, creative, dedicated, forward-thinking individual to shape and catalyze positive change in the city. The Assistant Director for Planning is responsible for providing oversight for major council priorities, city planning initiatives and implementation efforts including strategic and comprehensive planning, affordable housing, environmental stewardship, community data, urban boulevards and planning commission support.

The *Assistant Director for Planning *position provides leadership for the Community Development Department, alongside the Community Development Department’s Neighborhood Services Division and the Cultural and Economic Development Office. The position reports to the Director of Community Development while leading a team comprised of managers and other professional and technical staff in the Planning Division.

The department’s biennial operating budget (2023-24) is approximately $17.7 million, with an additional $17.5 million in the capital budget. The success of the department requires collaboration with other city departments, residents, businesses, nearby cities, and regional and state government agencies.
