07/25/2024 - DevOps Services Maintenance

*Summary*

CMS Cloud will be performing maintenance updates on its DevOps tools.

*Actions we are taking*


* Upgrade nodes to latest EKS gold image for CMS Cloud Jfrog, CBJ and SonarQube
* Upgrade CloudBees Jenkins CI 
* Upgrade EKS and relevant add-ons

*When is this happening?*

Start time: Thursday, 07/25/2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET
End time:  Friday, 07/26/2024 at 1:00 a.m. ET

*Who will be impacted?*
All AWS Commercial and GovCloud customers of CloudBees, JFrog, and SonarQube.

*What is the impact?*
Customers should expect a short downtime for each service as instances are restarted within the maintenance window

07/25/2024 - batCAVE Infrastructure Maintenance - PROD

*Summary*

In order to keep up to date with the latest versions and security advisories, the batCAVE PROD Infrastructure will be upgraded to the latest Gold Image and the nodes will be rotated. 

*Actions we are taking*

Update the AWS AMI Gold Image to the July 2024 image release by performing node rotations.

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Thursday, 07/25/2024 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

End Time: Friday, 07/26/2024 at 2:59 a.m. ET.

*Who will be impacted?*

batCAVE ADO development teams and their users: FFSDCS, QMMS, SDL, DACS, CyberGeek, EPPE, eRPT, SIGNAL.

*What is the impact?* 

Customers should expect a short downtime as instances are restarted within the maintenance window.

7/26/2024 - Splunk Version Upgrade

*Summary*

The Cloud Splunk Team will be upgrading Splunk to the latest version starting this Friday, July 26th at 06:00 p.m. ET.

*Actions we are taking*

Splunk will be placed in maintenance mode.

Upgrading the Splunk version.

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Friday, 07/26/2024 at 6:00 p.m ET

End Time:  Sunday, 07/28/2024 at 11:00 p.m ET

*Who will be impacted?*

DRaaS ITSI, MITG, MSI and EMM may have performance impacts at various times during the upgrade. CCIC search heads peered to the Splunk environment may also be impacted. 

*What is the impact? *

There will be some intermittent downtime and/or degraded performance during the maintenance window.  

*Benefits of the change *

Several security vulnerabilities and bugs will be fixed.

*07/27/2024 – BigFix Inventory Patch *

*Summary*

Patching of BigFix Inventory to update the IBM catalog and resolve an issue.

*Actions we are taking*

As part of system maintenance, the CMS BigFix team will apply patches to the BigFix Inventory. This patch will resolve an issue with log collection and update the catalog.

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Sunday, 07/27/2024 at 9:00 A.M. ET

End Time: Sunday, 07/27/2024 at 5:30 P.M. ET

*Who will be impacted?*

 This patch does not impact users and does not require them to take action. It is a vendor-supplied patch needed as part of maintenance to keep the software catalogs updated.

*What is the impact? *

Patching will update the software catalog, and the environment will be at the latest approved release.

*Benefits of the change*

Upon completion of this change, the software catalog will be updated, and the environment will be in compliance.

*07/28/24 - BigFix Relay Affiliation*

*Summary*

Grouping of BigFix relays for load balancing

*Actions we are taking*

As part of system maintenance, the CMS Cloud team will streamline client communication with the BigFix relays. This maintenance will be done in two phases.

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Sunday, 07/28/2024 at 10:00 A.M. ET

End Time: Sunday, 07/28/2024 at 5:30 P.M. ET

*Who will be impacted?*

Customers will not be impacted by this maintenance.

*What is the impact? *

The maintenance will change the configuration file from manual to automatic relay selection and update relay affiliation settings. This change will not cause endpoints to restart, so customers will experience no impact or outage during the change. 

*Benefits of the change*

Upon completion of this change, client communication will have improved performance.

07/29/2024 - Kion (cloudtamer) Browse Permissions Update

*Summary*

Kion, formerly known as cloudtamer, will undergo browser permissions changes on* July 29, 2024 *to improve features for CMS customers.

*Actions we are taking*

Upgrade to the latest version of Kion.

Permission changes will be provided automatically, and will provide the following improvements for customers:


* Access to click into/view their Organizational Unit (OU) and projects.
* Visibility into their Cloud Access Roles/Identity and Access Management (IAM Roles) for their OUs/Projects.
* Ability to see what user groups they are a part of for a given OU/Project.

*Note: *Both OU/Project pages will no longer have a financials tab. These permission changes will also remove the Financial User Interface (UI) data from Kion:

*When is this happening?*

Start Time: Monday, 07/29/2024at 12:00 p.m. ET

End Time: Monday, 07/29/2024 at 1:00 p.m. ET 

*Who will be impacted?*

All Kion (cloudtamer) customers.

*What is the impact? *

This upgrade is being conducted internally and will not affect customers. Upgrades will be automatically available following the change on* July 29, 2024**.* There will be no customer impacts associated with this change.
