The Tagawa City Museum of Art opened in November 1991 (v065) as Chikuho's first full-scale art museum in the "Tagawa Cultural Area" together with the Tagawa City Library. The museum has a stately exterior with a large copper-plate roof that has turned greenish-blue over the years, and holds a variety of special exhibitions centering on artists associated with the local area under the theme of "transmission from Chikuho.
As an art museum familiar to citizens, the museum introduces a wide range of hometown art and serves as a venue for special exhibitions and presentations by citizens.
In order to make the museum a base for improving the culture of the region, it is also actively involved in supporting young artists. We hope to create an environment where many artists can flourish in Chikuho by encouraging their passion and motivation for art and by providing opportunities for free discussion and presentation of artworks and critiques. We hope to create an environment in which many artists can flourish in Chikuho.
