Although our dojo has sent players to the Kyokushin World Championships every four years without fail However, training is not the only part of karate. Kyokushin Los Angeles has more than 40 instructors with rich experience in teaching alone. More than half of them are in their 40s or older and continue to enjoy training as a martial art throughout their lives. Young athletes train day and night with the goal of competing in tournaments, and mature and non-competition-oriented practitioners enjoy a fulfilling karate lifestyle.

The Torrance dojo has a team of instructors: Nakasaka, who represented the U.S. at the '95 World Championships and has served as the North American National Team Coach; Ito, a five-time Women's World Championships champion; Nakano, ranked 4th in the world in her weight class; Joe, a World Championships representative; Sato, a 30-year karate instructor in Japan and the U.S.; Okamoto, a 20-year karate veteran; Naito, who started with her child as a mother and found herself a black belt; and Watanabe, who started with her child and found herself an eight-time U.S. National Championships champion in mature women. Instructor Okamoto has 20 years of karate experience, Instructor Naito is a mother who started with her child and found herself a black belt, Instructor Watanabe is also a mother who started with her child and found herself an 8-time winner of the US National Championships for mature women, Instructor Watanabe's daughter Sarah is an active competitor, Instructor Shimamura started at age 5 and earned her black belt at age 18, and many others who have been through various stages in their lives. All of them are karate practitioners who enjoy karate as their life work throughout their lives.

As they say, the way of the martial arts is hard and steep, no matter how old you are or how well you do in competitions, we always try to keep you humble and ambitious, and to keep you pursuing the way of the martial arts throughout your life.
