We can’t wait to see you at our first city-wide Pride event from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Did you know about the free roller skating rink? Complete the waiver form in advance to hit the rink sooner! Complete the Waiver Form   Vote for Your Favorite Sticker Design Thanks to everyone who participated in our first ever sticker design contest! We received 35 amazing designs from talented artists throughout South City, and have narrowed it down to the top five for you to vote on. Rank the designs by your favorites by June 21, encourage your friends and family to do the same, and we will print our community’s favorite sticker! Vote Here   June 24 Neighborhood Town Hall and Community Meeting Join me on June 24 for a Neighborhood Town Hall and Community Meeting at Ponderosa Elementary School. Dinner will be provided. RSVP by June 19. Register Here   Orange Memorial Park Aquatic Center Construction Update Construction of the NEW aquatic center at Orange Memorial Park is underway. Initial construction activities include installation of construction fencing, job trailers, and temporary power. The site is being cleared, and select elements have been relocated to make way for construction activities, including the Eternal Flame sculpture and Veterans’ Memorial plaques. These items have been securely crated, removed from the site, and placed in storage. Before being reinstalled in the new Veteran’s Memorial in early 2026, the Eternal Flame will be refurbished. Watch the construction progress with the live webcam stream on the project webpage: www.ssf.net/newpool   NEW Veterans Village Stop for Free South City Shuttle Starting June 3 Starting on Monday, June 3, the Free South City Shuttle’s Orange (western) route will include a new stop location at Veterans Village, 1680 Mission Road in Colma. Please go to www.ssf.net/shuttle to view further information of this new stop location and the updated shuttle schedule and map. Saturday, June 1 at 1:00 P.M. - Here to Be Heard: A Reading by Black Freighter Press Based in San Francisco, Black Freighter Press committed to the exploration of liberation, using art to transform consciousness, and provide a platform for Black and Brown writers to honor ancestry and propel radical imagination. The reading features Black Freighter's co-director Alie Jones, and poets Meilani Clay and Landon Smith. (Library | Parks & Recreation Center, 901 Civic Campus Way) 2024 Summer Learning Challenge The 2024 Summer Learning Challenge returns on June 1 - August 31 thanks to another year of successful partnership with SSFUSD and the Parks & Recreation Department. The Library has distributed more than 4,000 free summer reading books to youths from PreK-5th grade. (Challenge is open to ages 0-18!) For South San Francisco youths who haven’t received a book yet, starting June 1, visit either the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way) or the Grand Library (306 Walnut Ave) and pick up a free summer reading book and a log! Learn More   COMMUNITY RESOURCES Upcoming BART Weekend Track Closure Starting at 9 pm on Friday, May 31, and continuing until the early hours of Monday, June 3, BART will replace aging rail, enhance lighting in BART tunnels, and remove hazardous vegetation between Glen Park and Daly City stations. The benefits of this work will translate to a smoother, safer, quieter, and more reliable experience for our customers. There will be no train service between 24th Street and Daly City stations the weekend of June 1-2. BART will operate a free bus bridge during the weekend construction. Free buses provided by MUNI and SamTrans will move riders between 24th Street and Daly City stations. Riders can expect delays of up to 30 minutes. The Glen Park and Balboa Park stations will be closed except for bus service.
