Thursday, Jan. 9, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Pull up a chair! Play a game with your neighbors. We'll have playing cards, UNO, board games and cooperative games to choose from, or you can bring a favorite game from home.

 

This program was planned for older adults, but all adults are welcome. It will take place in the Program Room.

Come and cut out magazine photos and create a vision & intention board for 2025! Cut out pictures & words to describe how you envision this next year to be. 

 

We will have all the supplies you need, but feel free to bring your own old magazines if you wish. 

 

This event will be held in the Program Room.

Toss it? No way! Repair your items with the Repair Café. Bring your broken stuff, along with your curiosity, and Repair Café will help you with your repairs. Is your toaster not toasting? Your blender not blending? Bring your item in need of repair and get one-on-one guidance on how to fix it. First come, first served. Last new fix at 2pm.

 

This program will take place in the Library Program Room.

Join Laura Westley to learn the basics on how to prune roses and other perennial bushes in the winter and keys to giving roses a great start for their next growing season in the spring. Discover which pruners to use when and how to care for your tools. Last but not least, you will see a live demo of pruning a rose bush.

 

This talk will take place in the Adult Fiction Room. Registration is not required.

In today’s AI-driven world, the line between what's real and what's not is getting increasingly blurred, and this problem is being exacerbated by a new technology known as "deep fakes." These are highly realistic, AI-generated images, videos, and audio that can mimic real people and are often indistinguishable from reality. But what exactly are deep fakes? How do they work, and what are the implications for our privacy, media, and trust in the information we consume?

 

This presentation will provide a clear, accessible introduction to the basics of deep fakes, explaining how they are created using AI and machine learning. We will explore the potential dangers they pose, from spreading disinformation to invading personal privacy, and discuss how attendees can protect themselves to ensure their safety and security online. Additionally, attendees will learn how to identify deep fakes through practical tips and examples, and we'll discuss the efforts being made to combat this growing problem.
