Final Reminder: 2024 Call for MIPS Improvement Activities Closes Today

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) encourages you to submit improvement activities for consideration for future years of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). The MIPS Annual Call for Improvement Activities process allows clinicians, professional associations and medical societies that represent clinicians, researchers, consumer groups, and others to identify and submit activities.

*What We’re Looking For*

CMS is looking for the following when considering new activities:

* relevant to an existing improvement activities subcategory (or a proposed new subcategory);
* move toward achieving improved beneficiary health outcomes;
* feasible to implement, recognizing importance in minimizing burden, including, to the extent possible, for small practices, practices in rural areas, or practices in areas designated as geographic Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA);
* has evidence that supports that an activity has a high probability of contributing to improved beneficiary health outcomes;
* can be linked to existing and related MIPS quality, Promoting Interoperability, and cost measures as applicable and feasible;
* can be validated by CMS;
* do not duplicate other improvement activities in the Inventory;
* should drive improvements that go beyond purely common clinical practices.

*How to Submit Activities*

If you’re interested in proposing new activities for MIPS, review the 2024 MIPS Call for Measures and Activities (ZIP, 2MB) [ https://qpp-cm-prod-content.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2711/2024-MIPS-Call-for-Measures-and-Activities.zip ] and fill out and submit the form from the toolkit through *today, July 1, 2024*, for 2026 activities.

The 2025 Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) and Qualified Registry Self-Nomination is Now Open

As of today, July 1, 2024, the 2025 Self-Nomination period for Qualified Clinical Data Registries (QCDRs) and Qualified Registries is now open. QCDRs and Qualified Registries are Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-approved intermediaries that collect clinical data on behalf of clinicians for data submission. Only intermediaries that want to participate (and that meet the requirements) as a QCDR and/or Qualified Registry need to complete the Self-Nomination form. Eligible clinicians, groups, virtual groups, subgroups, and Alternative Payment Model (APM) Entities, including Shared Savings Program Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), that want to report for the 2025 MIPS performance period via the QCDR or Qualified Registry reporting mechanism *DON’T* need to nominate themselves.

To complete the Self-Nomination form, log in to the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website [ https://qpp.cms.gov/login ] by 8 p.m. ET on September 3. A Self-Nomination form is available to each QCDR and Qualified Registry:

* The 2025 Self-Nomination form is for new or existing approved intermediaries who have had remedial action taken against them.
* The 2025 simplified Self-Nomination form is for existing approved QCDRs and Qualified Registries in good program standing.

If you should have a simplified Self-Nomination form, but are unable to access it, please contact the MIPS QCDR/Registry Support Team (Practice Improvement and Measure Management Support (PIMMS) Team) at QCDRVendorSupport@gdit.com or RegistryVendorSupport@gdit.com. *Don’t create or submit a new Self-Nomination form for your organization.*

Sharing Health Care Quality Information Systems (HCQIS) Access Roles and Profile (HARP) account credentials with other users isn’t permitted and is considered a security violation. Ensure that a member of your organization has a HARP [ https://harp.cms.gov/register/profile-info ] account to sign in to the QPP website with the appropriate associated role at all times and that appropriate coverage is in place if the lead Self-Nomination contact person is out of the office. Each individual user must have their own HARP account to log in to the QPP website [ https://qpp.cms.gov/ ]. Unauthorized or improper use of this system is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action and/or civil and criminal penalties.
