Is it hotter than a Jack-o'-Lantern left in a Florida swamp in July? For sure. But are we letting that stop us from celebrating the union of summer and Halloween? Not a chance!

While Halloween decorations are already invading stores (seriously, who decided October owned spooky season?), let’s keep the Summerween trend going with more treats and ghoulish city updates below.

** Spooky good game design
------------------------------------------------------------

EA SPORTS College Football 25 - one of the most anticipated video games in years - is being released this week. Even if you aren't a fan of gaming or college football, you'll be interested to know that the game was designed right here in Orlando.

EA's studio is located in downtown Orlando's Creative Village. There, around 1,000 employees converge on the cutting edge of digital interactive entertainment. With the new college football game, the first of its kind in more than a decade, EA has created a game that captures the atmosphere, energy and excitement of college football.

It brings the sights, sounds and action of college football to life and includes real schools, teams and players, including the hometown UCF Knights, who visited EA's studio for a preview this week along with Mayor Dyer.

The game is a wonderful showcase of Orlando's growing technology scene and the innovation happening right here in our city.

** Something cooling this way comes
------------------------------------------------------------

On July 15, the city, in partnership with First United Methodist Church Orlando, opened a cooling center to provide relief and a safe environment for vulnerable individuals on days that the heat index is expected to exceed 103 degrees.

This cooling center will provide those without shelter a cool place to rest and hydrate during extreme heat conditions.

Downtown Ambassadors will also assist by providing water and information to those needing shelter about the location of the cooling center and how to protect themselves from extreme heat conditions.

** All treats and no tricks with Black Bee Honey
------------------------------------------------------------

What do bees and humans have in common? They both rely on teamwork in order to thrive. So, it’s no surprise our youth entrepreneur program Black Bee Honey and the Grand Bohemian Hotel marked five years of partnership.

This week students, Orlando food lovers, and Mayor Dyer celebrated at The Boheme where they tested new menu items infused with local honey from Black Bee Honey. In 2019, the Black Bee Honey cheesecake was introduced and since proceeds from the sales have provided scholarships for teens in Parramore and Holden Heights Kidz Zones.

With more buzzworthy bites that not only taste good but do good, this partnership continues our commitment of ensuring every child in our city has a bright future.

** Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee meetings start next week
------------------------------------------------------------

The Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee, consisting of families, survivors and other community stakeholders, will hold their first public meetings to guide engagement toward the recommendation of a conceptual design for a permanent memorial to the Orlando City Council by the end of this year.
