The Consumer Affairs Center of the City of Tokyo has been receiving a series of inquiries about commercial water heater inspections.
Many of them offer to inspect water heaters suddenly over the phone or by visiting customers, and pressurize them to replace expensive water heaters by stirring up their anxiety.
Some callers also misrepresent their identities, saying they are commissioned by the local government or by the gas company with which they have a contract.

More than 70% of the parties to the contract are over 70 years of age, making this a problem that the elderly in particular should be aware of.
To prevent problems before they occur, do not readily agree to an inspection if you are offered one by a vendor you do not know, and do not sign a contract on the spot if a replacement is recommended.
