Recycle or Reuse Gasparilla Beads

Not sure what to do with all your Gasparilla beads? Through our partnership with the MacDonald Training Center (https://www.tampa.gov/solid-waste/bead-free-bay) , salvaged and dropped off beads can be reused year after year keeping them out of the waste stream and more importantly, out of the bay. There are four drop-off locations to participate in this program. The Florida Aquarium (https://twitter.com/floridaaquarium/status/1488197429845504005) is also collecting beads now through February 5. For every 5-gallon bucket of beads donated, you will receive a half-price ticket for admission.

City of Tampa’s Black History Committee 34th Annual Black History Celebration

The City of Tampa’s Black History Committee will host its annual Black History Celebration (http://www.cityoftampablackhistorycommittee.org/) at 11 am on February 1st, 2022 at the Tampa Convention Center Ballroom C, featuring keynote speaker Tiffany Greene. This year’s theme is “Hidden Figures: Celebrating Our Unsung Heroes.” Both city staff and the public are invited to attend and celebrate our diverse history, culture, and community.

Black Love Classic Film Series

Black Love (https://tampatheatre.org/movie-categories/black-love/) , presented by TECO, celebrates some of the greatest cinematic love stories of all time, as told by Black filmmakers and diverse casts. The series was produced in collaboration with the City of Tampa’s Community Engagement & Partnerships Department, and each film will be presented in partnership with community leaders and organizations with deep roots in Tampa’s Black community. ‘Black Love’ celebrates where Black History Month and Valentine’s Day connect.

The Revenue & Finance team is looking for a Budget Operations Manager (https://www.jobapscloud.com/Tampa/sup/BulPreview.asp?R1=220110&R2=025800&R3=001&Viewer=Admin&Test=Y) to serve as one of two principal assistants to the Budget Officer in delivering excellent financial consulting services while ensuring the City’s long-term fiscal sustainability through successfully managing various activities and functions such as the Truth in Millage Process, Non-Ad Valorem Revenue Process, Position Control, Debt Management, Cost Reimbursement, Budget and Accounting Financial Systems Management, and the daily leadership and management of the Budget Office’s employees.
