Join us for a Look Back at the History of Disability Activism

On November 13, the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) will be hosting an event to provide an overview of a Disability Activism Historic Context Study supported by our Historic Preservation Program. The event will also feature a panel of local disability activists and thinkers who will share stories and experiences that highlight advocacy efforts for equitable access and disability justice.

Tulalip Tribe Prayer Paddles Placed at City Hall Park

If you are out and about in Downtown Seattle, we suggest taking a walk through City Hall Park to check out a new art installation that pays tribute to the Coast Salish People. Prayer paddles crafted by Tulalip Tribe member and artist Ty Juvinel have been placed throughout the park to provide prayers and healing to park visitors. The paddles represent the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional elements and will be on display through January 17, 2025.

November Art Roundup: A List of Cultural Events, Exhibits, and Performances around Seattle

Believe it or not, November is already here. As the weather gets colder and gloomier, the South Seattle Emerald has compiled a list of arts and culture events happening throughout the month. There will be opportunities for you to check out a play that reckons with identity and the violent legacy of government boarding schools on Indigenous people, an art exhibition that asks people to touch the art, a kooky puppet show, and lots of mariachi. November is also Indigenous Peoples Heritage Month and also Transgender Day of Remembrance on Nov. 20.
