12:30 p.m., Nov. 7, Refuse Transfer Stations Update

Below is the current service status of Kaua‘i’s refuse transfer stations and the Kekaha Landfill as of 12:30 p.m., Nov. 7.

*Hanalei Refuse Transfer Station **New Update**
*5-3751 Kuhio Hwy, Princeville
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Green waste is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
*Current Status: *Hanalei RTS is only accepting bagged trash until further notice, as the trash chute is currently closed. The closure is due to equipment failure on the compactor. Green waste, metals, tire, oils, and recyclables are still being accepted.

 

*Kapa'a Refuse Transfer Station*
5051 Kahi Road, Kapa‘a
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
*Current Status: *CLOSED for renovations until July 2025. However, green waste collection at Kapa‘a RTS will remain open. Additionally, residential bagged trash will be accepted Friday to Sunday at the Kapa‘a Base Yard located at 4900 Kahau Road, in Kapa‘a, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The public is advised that only bagged trash from residents will be accepted on those days.

 

*Līhu‘e Refuse Transfer Station
*3450 Ahukini Road, Līhu‘e
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
*Current Status:* Materials accepted at the Līhu‘e RTS have been temporarily modified. Līhu‘e will not be accepting construction and demolition debris or trailers containing trash. Pallets must be cut into quarters. *Hanapēpē Refuse Transfer Station*
4380 Lele Road, Hanapēpē
Open 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
*Current Status:* All services are available. 

 

*Kekaha Landfill*
6900 Kaumuali‘i Hwy, Kekaha
Open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
*Current Status: *No scrap metal or propane tanks accepted (large appliances only). All other services are available.
