There may be one thing our swans love more than their adoring fans: snacks! And it’s important they are fed the absolute best (no bread, please!) So, the next time you visit Lake Eola Park, bring some quarters and grab some corn out of our feeder machines located on the east side of the park.

Some food for thought, those quarters are used to pay for swan vet care. So, you’ll bond with our favorite Lake Eola residents over a meal and support their health and well-being. It’s a win-win!

** More Affordable Senior Housing in Development
------------------------------------------------------------

The City of Orlando continues to work to expand our housing inventory for residents of all income levels, and provide safe, accessible and affordable housing options for our senior residents. Last week, Orlando City Council approved funding support for Wendover Housing Partners toward the development of new affordable housing in the Clear Lake Neighborhood. This support from the city will aid the developer in their application to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation for Low Income Housing Tax Credits.

Wendover is proposing a garden-style community with a minimum of 84 one-and two-bedroom affordable units for seniors, ages 55 and up, with amenities such as a pool, fitness center and clubhouse, and free on-site programming for residents.

** Save the Date for Annual Veterans Day Parade

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Mayor's Veterans Advisory Council will once again honor the courageous men and women of the armed forces at the 25th annual City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 9, 2024, 11 a.m., in downtown Orlando.

The parade's theme is "A Legacy of Loyalty and Service" and will recognize the pride and honor veterans hold in the tradition of military service and defending our country.
