The City of South Miami is currently monitoring this storm, and has declared a State of Emergency for the City of South Miami effective October 6th, 2024. Please keep these key points in mind: Milton's path and intensity remain uncertain, stay up to date with the latest forecast at hurricanes.gov. There is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds along the west coast of Florida, starting Tuesday night. Stay alert for Storm Surge and Hurricane Watches. Heavy rainfall, leading to potential flooding, is expected today and into midweek. Be prepared for flash, urban, and river flooding. Important City Storm Related Information: Hurricane South Miami Parking Garage Program: The Hurricane Parking Program is activated when a Hurricane Watch is issued by the National Hurricane Center or the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).The Hurricane South Miami Parking Garage Program provides residents, South Miami Garage monthly parking holders, and City of South Miami employees the opportunity to park one vehicle per household/employee in the South Miami Parking Garage (Registration is required) Located at 5829 SW 73rd Street. When: Today, October 6: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM Tomorrow, October 7: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Where: Public Works Yard 4795 SW 75th Avenue Miami, FL 33155 Residents and small businesses can receive up to 10 bags per household or business (While supplies last). Please bring proof of residency or business location within the City of South Miami.
