*City of Mountain View Announces Appointment of New **Public Works Director Jennifer Ng*

"Seasoned public works professional with over 25 years public sector experience joins the City next month  "

*"Mountain View, Calif."*" — "On Thursday, Oct. 17, City Manager Kimbra McCarthy announced the appointment of Jennifer Ng as the City of Mountain View’s new Public Works Director. She is currently the Assistant Public Works Director/City Engineer for the City of Sunnyvale, and officially joins the City on Monday, Nov. 18.

“Jennifer is an experienced, forward-thinking public works professional who has worked in the public sector for over 25 years,” said City Manager Kimbra McCarthy. “She has developed strong local and regional relationships with Public Works staff and community members. Jennifer is solutions-oriented, collaborative, and committed to continuous improvement and staff development. I am thrilled that Jennifer is joining the City team as we move forward on many significant projects that the community is eagerly anticipating.”

As the Public Works Director, Ng will lead three divisions, which are Transportation and Business Services, Engineering, and Public Services. The department manages the City’s infrastructure, facilities, streets, utilities, fleet, property and equipment; administers the City’s Solid Waste Management, Real Estate

Management and Public Works grant programs; provides traffic engineering and transportation planning services; and permits private developments in the public right-of-way. Ng will oversee a number of high-profile initiatives including the Active Transportation Plan, Castro Street Pedestrian Mall, Fleet Electrification Plan and Implementation, Sea Level Rise Capital Projects, Vision Zero Plan, Rengstorff Avenue Caltrain Grade Separation Project, Complete Green Streets, and the construction and implementation of new City parks, among other significant projects that will enhance the quality of life in Mountain View. The department has close to 150 team members and an annual budget of $123 million.

"I am excited to become a part of the City of Mountain View, which has a bold vision for the future,” said Ng. “The Public Works Department plays a significant role in achieving the City’s long-term goals and objectives, from addressing climate change to building infrastructure that anticipates our community’s changing needs. I am fortunate to soon lead a high-performing team and look forward to working together on building the Mountain View of Tomorrow.”

Ng has lived in the Bay Area for most of her life and worked most recently for the City of Sunnyvale for the last seven years. Prior to that, Ng had also worked for the City of Menlo Park and City of San Jose in progressively increasing engineering roles. She has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from San José State University.

The position became available when Public Works Director Dawn Cameron retired in September 2024. Ng’s annual starting salary is $312,000.
