Green Card holders are now required to carry their original card with them at all times.

● Effective 4/11/25 of this year, Gri － n-card holders are required to carry their original card
Even if you have a copy or digital image because it is dangerous to carry it, it will be invalid to immigration enforcement officers.

● Violation of this will result in
fines
up to 6 months in jail
worst case scenario deportation.

●We recommend that you take the utmost care in safekeeping so that you do not lose it as long as you carry it around with you.

●This is not a new law, but a policy to faithfully enforce the existing law, the Alien Registration Act of 1940,

●As a similar case, a copy of your driver's license or digital image is not valid. However, if you register with the DMV at the Official Mobile Driver's License (a secure state-maintained site), you can show your driver's license there and the officer will accept it as an official driver's license presentation if necessary.

Currently
Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Puerto Rico, and Ohio, Puerto Rico, and Utah. are in the process of doing so, and other states are moving to join the movement.
