Defying convention and boundaries, Time For Three stands at the busy intersection of Americana, modern pop, and classical music.

The gently rhythmic soundscapes of Quarteto Nuevo are driven by soprano saxophone, woodwinds, cello, guitar and percussion. You can be a part of their enchanting live concert recording of their "Jazz Road Suite" at ASU Kerr! This performance is a unique tribute to the American West, drawing inspiration from the landscapes of Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Wyoming. This chamber jazz quartet with a global influence skillfully weaves together music from ancient cultures and distant corners of the world, creating a dreamy, captivating groove and energy.

Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn-based singer, composer and producer, Arooj Aftab draws on a deep well of musical influences, from jazz to minimalism to poetry. Her spellbinding performance style has earned her a place on the New York Times best concerts list, and appearances at Coachella, Primavera Sound and Glastonbury.

“One of the more exciting young tenor saxophonists today” says The New York Times. Twice Grammy-nominated for Best Improvised Jazz solo, saxophonist and composer Melissa Aldana has garnered international recognition for her visionary work as a band leader, as well as her bold and often meditative compositions. Signed to Blue Note Records, she released the acclaimed "12 Stars" on the storied label in 2022. In naming her earlier "Visions" among the best albums of 2019 for NPR Music, critic Nate Chinen wrote that Aldana “has the elusive ability to balance technical achievement against a rich emotional palette.”

The program will be centered on the year 1925 ～ 1945, and will feature the brightest music of the period, including performers, singers, songs, and the era, etc. The original sound recordings will be presented in the best possible sound quality. Performers, singers, recording dates, and other information will be handed out. We hope that everyone, young and old, male and female, can enjoy this event, and that it will become a place of exchange centered on the local community.

Yotam Silberstein, one of the leading jazz guitarists of his generation, has gained acclaim for a sound rich in bebop and blues as well as musical folklore from South America, North Africa and the Middle East, giving his music an increasingly global thrust. His mature compositional gift and gripping interpretive finesse are vividly represented on his 2022 release Universos and his 2020 outing with Argentine multi-instrumentalist and composer Carlos “Negro” Aguirre titled En el jardín. He is a member of the John Patitucci Trio (heard on the acclaimed album Irmãos de Fé), has toured extensively with legendary Brazilian singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, and played with characteristic fire and taste on Monty Alexander’s GRAMMY-nominated Harlem-Kingston Express Live! as well as David Sanborn & Marcus Miller’s Time and the River. He has worked in bands with some of the greatest figures in jazz including George Coleman, Charles McPherson, Jimmy Heath, James Moody and Roy Hargrove, and has toured with his own groups all over the world in the most prestigious festivals and venues including the Tokyo, Umbria and North Sea Jazz Festivals as well as Kennedy Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center and more.

The Joshua Redman Quintet is an all-star band featuring some of Redman’s lifelong friends and partners in music. The Redman Quintet is Redman in his element, surrounded by some of jazz’s finest. The rapport, talent, and musicianship that exists between these artists is truly something to be witnessed – a testament to the great heights of a life dedicated to the craft.

Ruthie Foster is a four-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who mixes a wide palette of American song forms, from gospel and blues to jazz, folk and soul. Described by Rolling Stone as “pure magic to watch and hear,” her vocal talent was elevated in worship services at her community church. Drawing influence from legendary acts like Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin, Foster developed a unique sound unable to be contained within a single genre. That uniqueness echoes a common theme in Ruthie’s life and career - marching to the beat of her own drum.
