本コンクールは、「未来に残そう青い海」をスローガンに掲げて、平成12年度から開催し本年度で第22回目を迎えるもので、昨年度から、応募作品を「はがきサイズ」として全国の各海上保安部署において、管轄する地域の小中学生から公募を実施し、木更津海上保安署に小学生低学年の部及び小学生高学年の部あわせて３０９作品の応募をいただきました。
