There will be Kagamibiraki (traditional Japanese festival), mochi scattering, kimono fashion show, food and cultural ・ booths for children, taiko drumming, lion dance, Japanese dance, New Year's calligraphy, Awa Odori dance, Shorinji Kempo and Kendo martial arts shows, and much more ！ on January 1, 2023 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Japanese ・ Village ・ Plaza and Weller Court will be the main venues for this event in Little Tokyo. The event aims to introduce Japanese New Year's culture to the younger generation of Nikkei and Americans who are unfamiliar with Japan, and attracts over 10,000 people who come to enjoy the atmosphere and contribute to the revitalization of the community and businesses around Little Tokyo.

Japanese food can be enjoyed at numerous food booths, including yakisoba, takoyaki, rice cakes, amazake, oshiruko, and more. Booths where you can buy various anime goods, Shinto ・ shrine booths where you can make Hatsumode (New Year's visit), and many more will be set up to ensure that you can enjoy the atmosphere of Japan and the New Year.
We hope that everyone will come to this New Year's event, where the Japanese community comes together as one, and enjoy the New Year's day to the fullest.
