As October draws to a close and the end of the year approaches, we near the 2025 Columbus Climate Action Plan [ https://www.columbus.gov/Services/Public-Utilities/About-Public-Utilities/Office-of-Sustainability/Columbus-Climate-Action-Plan?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] update. A new Central Ohio Climate Action Plan [ https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/de67bf70d8a641f0a81afbfce5051c0f?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] for the region is in development and had a strong engagement process this summer. The City will use feedback from Columbus residents during this process to inform updates to the Columbus Climate Action Plan. Areas of focus for the update include consideration of the 2030 pollution reduction goal, target updates, lead and implementing agency analysis, and story updates to ensure all work is included. Columbus Youth Climate Action Fund Recipients Announced!

The first-ever recipients of the Columbus Youth Climate Action Fund micro grants [ https://www.columbus.gov/Government/Mayors-Office/Sustainable-Columbus/Columbus-Youth-Climate-Action?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] have been selected! Columbus received funding from the Bloomberg Foundation to grant youth aged 15-24 up to $5,000 each for projects addressing climate change, environmental justice and community engagement. This new grant program aims to empower the next generation of climate leaders while meeting our Columbus Climate Action Plan goals and creating a healthy, safe Columbus now and into the future.

Olentangy Trail Pump Station Mural Unveiled

Exciting news! The Olentangy Trail pump station mural was unveiled by the Columbus Department of Public Utilities on the afternoon of Wednesday, October 16th.  Partnering with Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW), Sustainable Columbus worked with local artist Nick Stull who produced a mural design entitled “Full Circle,” centering the interconnectedness of water and life. Located between SR 315 N and Goodale Avenue, the mural aims to highlight the beauty of our local rivers and the importance of protecting our natural waterbodies

*Title:* Buildings and Energy Coordinator__

*About Me:* Hi! I am Cassie Johnson, the newest member of the Sustainable Columbus Team. I am the Buildings & Energy Coordinator supporting the implementation of the three buildings section strategies from the Columbus Climate Action Plan-- Increase Renewable Energy, Increase Building Efficiency, Adopt Net Zero and Resilient Building Standards. Before taking on this role, I worked for two years in communications at the Ohio Environmental Council where I got to connect and educate Ohioans on critical solutions like the clean energy transition. In addition to this, I have a degree in psychology and US culture & business practices from the University of Kentucky and am a semester away from completing my master's in public administration from the Ohio State University. My experiences have taught me the invaluable need for connection in public policy. At the end of the day, we all want to live a healthy life.
