Affordable housing fee waiver program





Affordable housing developers in Bellevue can now apply for permit review and inspection fee waivers from the city for their projects. To qualify for fee reductions under the program, a development must be 100% affordable at or below 80% of the area median income for the life of the project. Projects providing permanent housing, emergency shelter or services to people experiencing homelessness may also qualify. Noise code updated

The Bellevue City Council recently approved changes to the city's noise code to expand hours when construction noise is allowed and expand and clarify the activities that qualify for extended construction hours. The code was also updated to modify the allowed decibel limits for sleeping areas to be consistent with federal guidance and neighboring cities. Bellevue Development Committee

The Bellevue Development Committee has continued to meet regularly in 2024. Topics at the April meeting included a permit timelines and a development update, reports from sub-teams, updates on proposed code amendments and more. EV charging stations assistance available

The City of Bellevue is working on a plan to guide the electric vehicle transition in Bellevue. As part of this effort, city staff are working with Bellevue employers, property managers and other service providers to connect them with incentives and other options to reduce the cost of installation. May is Building Safety Month

Next month, the City of Bellevue will recognize Building Safety Month. In May of each year, the International Code Council (ICC) leads a campaign to recognize building safety professionals for the significant work they do. Updating and ensuring compliance with codes is just one way that we protect homes, schools, offices, industrial facilities, retails businesses and entertainment venues. Each day, code officials dedicate themselves to keeping the public safe. Watch for more on Building Safety Month in May!

The three days of events will feature guided neighborhood tours, opportunities to meet people behind Bellevue's city government services and the Spring District Family Festival with food trucks, music and activities for kids. Clean Buildings Incentive Program - Bellevue & Issaquah

The cities of Bellevue [ http://www.bellevuewa.gov/cleanbuildings?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] and Issaquah [ https://www.issaquahwa.gov/3367/Clean-Buildings-Incentive-Program?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] are helping large buildings (20,000 square feet or more) to reduce energy use, save on costs, and comply with Washington's clean building law. Free building energy services include energy benchmarking, scoping assessments, incentive navigation and compliance reporting support - an estimated $18,000 value.

Virtual Permit Center

Development Services offers virtual permit center meetings to allow customers to schedule one-on-one time with staff to receive convenient assistance with general permitting questions prior to applying for permits. Permit Center Hours

The city implemented new hours in the Permit Center in February. These changes are designed to better accommodate customer needs and provide the community with more flexibility in accessing our services. 

The Permit Center is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Permit Center will be open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3p.m., although customers visiting City Hall may be served remotely by staff.
