Explore 90 historic acoustic stringed instruments played by the heroes of folk, blues, and bluegrass music. These instruments illuminate the intertwined histories of exceptional soloists and songwriters, groundbreaking instrument manufacturers, and novel inventions, illustrating how diverse origins combine into enduring musical traditions.

Led by acclaimed violinist Jeremy Kittel, formerly of the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet, Kittel & Co. fuses classical and acoustic roots, Celtic and bluegrass aesthetics, and folk and jazz sensibilities.

Aimed at connecting our diverse community through our shared appreciation of music, the Center for Musical Arts’ 2023-24 concert series celebrates musical excellence and an expansive mix of musical genres—all in our welcoming and intimate performance space.

Drawing from the music of Django Reinhardt and the “hot club” style of early 20th century jazz, LaPompe performs a fresh collection of classics and original compositions. Presenting complex and virtuosic arrangements with rustic and acoustic instrumentation including acoustic guitars, upright bass, violin, they have described themselves as “mountain swing” — the kind of music that fits as well in a log cabin as it does in a speakeasy or on the big stage.

Deemed a “vocalist of unerring instinct” by The New York Times, Grammy award winning artist Aoife O’Donovan has released three critically acclaimed and boundary-blurring solo albums including 2022’s thrice Grammy nominated album “Age of Apathy” praised as “stunning” (Rolling Stone). Aoife will be joined by Hawktail, an acoustic music supergroup composed of bassist Paul Kowert, fiddler Brittany Haas, guitarist Jordan Tice, and mandolinist Dominick Leslie.

Join guitarist and singer Alpha Yaya Diallo, from Guinea in West Africa, who has earned an unbeatable reputation for the excellence of his musicianship and the excitement of his live shows. Diallo is a three-time JUNO award winner.
